Summary
Remembered as one of the most dynamic players in the VFL. He was born in 1944 at Leonora, near Kalgoolie in WA. When Syd was two years old, he and his sisters were taken away from their family and had to live at Raelands Mission near Bunbury. Syd started playing for the mission school football team when he was eight years old. Because of his talent he eventually went to live with the family of Dr Manea, President of the South Bunbury Football Club. Five years later, Ron Barrassi asked Jackson to play for Carlton in the VFL
