Summary
Ollie George; skilled horseman and experienced stockman; storyteller; Badimaya culture and language teacher and speaker; born Pullagaroo Station, Western Australia, December 1934; son of Bilguwi (Clara George) and Dyin.gany (Sydney George or George Mulga); brother to Cauley (Cauley Walsh), Guyu-guyu (Sheila George), Magabadyan (Linda George), Bungardi (Percy George/ Badyabul), Udyi (Rosie George), Dyinyburiny (Elizabeth 'Betty' George), Terry, Sydney, Nugget, Peter, Gordon, Roy; raised by Ngulybinda (Nanna Dinah) and Dyirdaminy (Poppa Nugget) on Kirkalocka Station; he also spent time with his family on Wydgee Station; while a young boy he also spent time on Thundelarra and Pindabunna stations; he later lived and worked on Diemals, Yoweragabbie, Gabyon, Belele, Edah, Austin Downs, Yarrabubba, Lake Way, Windimurra, Yulella, Nalbarra and Albion Downs stations; he worked as a stockman during the 1950s to 1960s; he was involved in gymkhanas across Western Australia; taught Badimaya language and culture at Mt Magnet High School and to the wider community as well as to his family; worked with the Yamaji Language Centre and the Bundiyarra - Irra Wangga Language Centre; worked with his late brother Bungardi (Percy George) and researchers on the Badimia Native Title claim; primary contributor to publications and exhibitions on Badimaya language and culture; husband to Anne Bond; father of Quentin, Kerry, Fabian, Luke, Aaron, Alan, Hazel, Rebecca; grandfather of Fabian, Lola, Shakalia, Tyshanna, Kylinda, Lucretia, Wendy, Shakiya, Maliya, Axle, Ashton, Denika Torrence, Kaleirah, Tyereika, Jermaine, Ollisha
