Summary
"The Spinifex Express adventure is inspired by a Nyamal japi song. A japi song is the Aboriginal word for an everyday song created by a person to share an experience, such as a journey through Country, with others. The japi song which inspired the performance was recorded in 1964 and preserved by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS). It was translated from the Nyamal language by Mary Anne Jebb of AIATSIS, with support from the Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre" -- inside front cover
