Summary
Dr Diana Eades discusses delivering justice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; crime in Aboriginal communities and cultural disadvantages faced by lawyers' of Indigenous clients, including language barriers, cultural assumptions, health issues and communications. Lawyers are better able to represent their clients and can better prepare Indigenous clients to deal with court systems and procedures with a clearer understanding of Indigenous cultural backgrounds. As a result, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are empowered to take full advantage of their legal rights
