Summary
“In the early 1980s a group of six women gathered to make a decision that would change the lives of thousands of women in the ACT. At a time when the medical model was the only solution for women struggling with the challenges life had thrown at them, Medea Inc. (which went on to become Inanna Inc.) was a lifeline, a space to reconnect with their hopes and dreams. Over 30 years the foundation of feminist principles, narrative theory and the contribution by all who have come and gone or stayed have shaped Inanna Inc. into a community focused on supporting women and their families, advocating for social justice, equity, recognition and respect. Inanna Inc. provides crisis accommodation and support services to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, experience mental health issues or live with disabilities. Inanna provides services specific to indigenous women and families with the support of the local indigenous community. The chapter "Diversity" discusses services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
