Summary
Photographic portrait of artist David Malangi wearing a medallion commemorating his contribution to the design of the Australian one dollar note, with additional close-up shots of the coin. The note was introduced in Australia in 1966, but Malangi's contribution to the design was at first unacknowledged. Milingimbi Mission teacher Alan Fidock recognised the design as belonging to Malangi and contacted H.C. Coombs, the then Governor of the Reserve Bank, who arranged for Malangi to be acknowledged with the receipt of a silver medallion, one thousand dollars, and a fishing kit. Subjects include: individual portrait; commemorative coin / medallion
