Production of art and crafts at Gamedi, an outstation near Maningrida, Arnhem Land; Jack Wunuwun, outstation leader, is shown cutting bark from a stringybark, drying it and preparing the surface for painting; he uses four colours (red and yellow ochre, white clay and charcoal) which are stone-ground; to depict the elements of the Morning Star legend the film also shows Johnny Bulun Bulun painting on bark, the painting of a drone pipe, and the manufacture of dilly bags and baskets by the women who collect pandanus leaves, dig up roots, shave and boil them to obtain dyes to colour the fibres; the finished products are collected by Peter Cook of the Outstsation Resource Association (Maningrida) for sale in the South; Jack Wunuwun teaching his son to paint and to dance the Morning Star dance which is then performed by a group of men and boys to the accompainment of drone-pipe, and Jack singing and using clap-sticks
