Summary
In the 1950s and 60s many juvenile Aboriginals in Western Australia were 'on the run'. They were fleeing from the treatment that they had received in missions and other 'stolen generation' institutions, while others were escaping from domestic violence. Many found their way to Fremantle which was an oasis of tolerance and friendliness in the desert of racism that enveloped Australia at that period. This video follows the story of Blanche Cox, who recalls her life in Katanning, and her journey to Fremantle. In Fremantle, these runaways found a home and became sisters united for life.
