- Address explains some of the 'personal drimensions of being a member of an oppressed people'; discusses the continued stereotyping of Indigenous peoples who were and are subjects of colonialism and the colonial imagination; also re-examines theoretical and political ideas of liberals and the Left, which have been necessary in constructing civil institutions, but which have brought about new forms of oppression, subjection and racism; considers the East Timorese situation; considers also how oppressed peoples can, at a personal level, believe in their own humanity
