- In 1844 two young English girls, Jane and Harriet, emigrate to Australia but Jane's brother is not in Sydney to meet them. Luckily they find work on Mirabooka Station and experience life in the outback ;story of white children's relations with Aboriginal people camped at Mirrabooka; Corroboree; Spearing of neigbouring white pastoralists; Explanation by "Old Blow Whiskers" that the spearing was in revenge for taking their land and food sources
