Summary
"Sport has become a key site for discussions and pronouncements regarding race relations in Australia. In Australian Football, the relatively recent surge in the number of Indigenous players has led to claims that racism has been eliminated. This is a well-known and widely circulated claim but has been questioned on the basis of evidence pertaining to occupational discrimination as well as off-field leadership options. However, the most publicly contested terrain of late is centred upon the origin of the sport itself. We present the research domains that serve as a foundation for a critical examination. We conclude that historical and sociological research domains that serve as a foundation for a critical examination. We conclude that historical and sociological research must be considered alongside any third party linkages." -- [Authors abstract] page 5
